In Search of the Dee Dah Day!

In John Ortberg's book entitled 'The Life You've Always Wanted', he tells of a dance his daughter does quite regularly called the 'Dee Dah Day Dance'. It is a relatively simple dance which expresses joy; One where she is too happy to hold it in any longer; one where words are inadequate to give voice to her euphoria. We ALL long for days like this.

I wonder what my husband would do each morning should I roll over, kiss him, and with a smile on my face, joyously say, "Today I'm going to have a Dee Dah Day!"

I think our 'frame of mind' in the morning often sets the pace for the day before us, don't you?

Unfortunately, I've become a 'complainer of the trivial AND not so trivial’, most mornings greeting the day AND my husband with the same general grievances. "My feet are still swollen," or "When will I ever get a good night's sleep?" Blah, blah, blah.

Please enjoy in these pictures

just a touch of... "Simple Beauty"

Quiet moments with our Savior

C. S. Lewis once wrote that 'Joy is the serious business of heaven.'

Can you fathom what our day would be like if we woke up each morning brimming with anticipation of a
thousand priceless moments with God? Imagining what wonders He could work IN and THROUGH our lives should we be receptive to Him?

Being joyful is a choice. We can't wait until our finances are more secure, we have a better job,
our feet don't swell, or we lose those extra pounds. We can't 'bottle it up' for when our spouses become more romantic, or our children get their lives all mapped out, or our stress level seems less than gigantic!

God wants us to have an abundant life filled with unspeakable joy, regardless of our circumstances, And He wants us to have it NOW!

Samuel Dickey Gordon once said that, "Joy is distinctly a Christian work and a Christian thing. It is the reverse of happiness. Happiness is the result of what happens of an agreeable sort. Joy has its springs deep down inside. And that spring NEVER runs dry, no matter what happens. Only JESUS gives that joy."

Wishing for us all deep down joy and many Dee Dah Days!
Love, Kat
