Kat Wofford's Inspirations

 

God has spoken to me through an array of writers. Francine Rivers, Charles Martin, Karen Kingsbury, and Randy Alcorn, just to mention a few. But by far, a short and unelaborated book entitled 'The Practice of the Presence of God' continues to awaken and uncover with each reading, a glimpse into the wonderment of truly becoming one with God.

 

I believe Brother Lawrence captures the embodiment of a true Christian in the excerpt below.

 

In the way of God," he said, "thoughts count for little, love does everything. And it is not necessary to have great things to do. I turn my little omelet in the pan for the love of God; when it is finished, if I have nothing to do, I prostrate myself on the ground and adore my God, who gave me the grace to make it, after which I arise, more content than a king. When I cannot do anything else, it is enough for me to have lifted a straw from the earth for the love of God.

 

Written over three hundred years ago, this collection of letters and conversations inspires me to strive for nothing less than knowing God in all His greatness and feeling His loving presence in each moment of every day.
